I know what you are thinking… “oh man! Another platform”. I promise, this is short and sweet.
This platform is great because:
- The learning curve is super easy.
- It allows you to work in groups and build community in your classroom.
I will walk you through the basics of Jamboard so you can start using it in your classroom (or creating your own Jamboard images for your class).
First of all. What is Jamboard?
Jamboard is an interactive whiteboard that is part of the Google apps. You do not need to pay anything, you just need a Google account and your students need an email address to access.

Where to get the images?
You can purchase Jamboard images from Teachers Pay Teachers or you can create your own. I like to create my images on Power Point. If you create your own images, save your Power Point presentation as PNG images.

Setting up your activities
Open Jamboard on Google and insert your images as a background. This way they won’t move and will stay still.

Tools of Jamboard
Jamboard has a lot of tools your students can use (pen, textbook, sticky note, eraser). But I’d say my favorite and most useful is the sticy notes. Make sure students include their names in their sticky notes when they record an answer.

Using wordbanks
If your students need more help with useful vocabulary, add wordbanks to your Jamboards.
- Create your word bank on Power Point.
- Change your file’s size format to “banner”.
- Create your wordbank
- Export your presentation as an image
- Insert the image on your Jamboard

What activities can you do?
Morning check ins, vocabulary review, reading activities…the possibilities are endless. You can assign one Jamboard for 5 or 6 students if you have a big class, this will help you monitor your assignments is a more organized way.

More info about Jamboard?
This was a short, crash, 101 post about Jamboard. If you want to dive in and see all possibilities Jamboard has for your class, check Profesora Delgadillo’s blog. I like to call her “The Jamboard Queen”. She has great ideas and engaging activities you can use with your students.
I hope you found this blog post useful for your classes. Share with your teacher friend, or let me know if you have any more questions.
Feliz semana profe.
